Where do you think the 10mm and .40 cal. ammo was derived from. They just have less power to ease recoil.
I'd say "inspired by" instead of "derived from." .308 Win is derived from .30-60 by shortening the case. .300 BLK is derived from .223 by cutting the case and necking it. There's no equivalent for .41 and 10mm.
The designers of 10mm wanted to match the .41 and didn't make it, but they share no components. The 10mm parent case is an old rifle case, the .30 Remington.
As for power, it's pretty much limited by case capacity, bullet weight and barrel length. True Norma power 10mm maxes out the case. The .41 magnum case has about 50% more volume than the 10mm case. Rimmed vs. rimless, etc.

True, but there was an effort to make a less powerful .41 magnum, and that effort led to the 10mm and .40 caliber ammunition we see today.

What's a real shame it 44 special. It was supposed to be a light load traveling fast but they just made a whimpy 44 mag. 40 can match the weak 10mm loads. Make it the way it was intended to be made or not at all. We don't want weak loaded ammo unless it's cowboy action.

My mistake, I meant to reference the .41 Special which actually preceded the .41 Magnum.

Have some fun with that! - LOL

One of my favorite wheel guns to shoot is my Lew Horton S&W .44 Special. It recoils less than a .38 because the big N-frame just soaks up any recoil. Did I also mention that it is a tack driver? I also have the .44 mag Lew Horton. No, there is no redundancy. The .44 Special is just...special.

You'll get a lot of personal preference but I always say shoot and carry what caliber you are comfortable with. I like several calibers and put both .45 and 9 both at the top. As a big 1911 fan, the 1911 in .45 always will probably be tops though. Haven't tried to CC most of my 1911s other than my Springfield ERO .45 cal which is my EDC. When I change up, I go to my Sig 229 which is about the same size. They are a bit bigger and heavier for CC IMO but if it works, it works. If I deviate from that (especially in the warmer months), I will just throw my Sig 238 in my cargo shorts pocket and go. It's so lite you I tend to forget I have it on me. I just make sure I am proficient with whatever I intend to CC.

I'm looking around for another micro carry though and going to give the wife the 238. I haven't found many out there I really like. Not big on Glock. Nothing wrong with them, just not comfortable to or for me. Even though I am a Sig fan, I don't like the spongy stock trigger of the 365. I am also a fan of Walther (my PPQ Q5 match is favorite striker of my bunch and most accurate as well) but Walther don't make a micro. Now looking at the Canik Mete MC9 reviews. I'd like to see one but they sure are hard to find local.

Yes.. they are nice. A cousin has one and it's a sweet shooter. I like the way it shoots and feels over the Sig 938 SAS I use to have. I have just heard so much on the Canik that I want to see and possibly try before I make a decision. I probably shouldn't have sold my 938 but it was seeing more safe time than CC as it didn't quite fill the void. Probably should have hung onto it but was freeing up the toy money so I could jump when the time come.

You may want to look at the Kimber Micro9. It is on a 1911 platform w/o a grip safety. I have the Springfield Ronin EMP3 which is pure 1911 but a little larger than the Micro 9. Both are great EDC and highly concealable.

I had some bad experiences with a couple of Kimber Custom II's which were built two years apart so I am a little shy of Kimber. I had heard they have done better with their quality control so I'll take another look at them. A couple of my friends have the Micro 9 and really like them. No issues out of them. I'm also a big Springfield fan so I'll have to take a closer look at the Ronin. Thanks for the input!

It's not about the arrow it's all about the Indian.
Hotdog chili no beans, all other chili needs beans to be chili
If one used the complete name there would be no confusion. Is one's preference for chili con carne or chili con carne y frijoles? Chili would just be the peppers or the pepper sauce.

Yeah, alright. IDGAF what they call it in a different language. In America chili with no beans is ****** soup.
