Walther CCP Recall

Walther Arms has identified a potential condition in Walther CCP pistols that could potentially cause it to discharge if dropped whether the manual safety is engaged (on) or disengaged (off).

The safety of our customers is our paramount concern so we have voluntarily initiated this recall because of the possibility of a drop-fire occurring.

Please do not load or fire your Walther CCP pistol and contact us immediately to arrange to have your pistol upgraded free of charge.

Hmmmm.....seems like Walther has had a long recall history since S&W bought them. In 2009, Walther had to recall all PPK and PPK/S made from 2002 until Feb or '09.
"...may permit a round to be discharged without the trigger being pulled. When the manual safety is disengaged...."
In 2012, 11K PK380s were recalled. "Walther has found that engagement of the manual safety may not prevent firing of a chambered round when the trigger is pulled."
While not recalled, the PPS has had a history of feed issues. I have one that I had to send back because it would not feed even with new Walther mags and had the same issue with the P22...Walther fixed it as well. Now it feeds. The only Walther I got that works is a post WWII P1.

S&W owns Walther?

It sounds to me like S&W used to distribute Walther arms and they still have a "strategic alliance" where each company makes at least one product for the other.

"Walther and Smith & Wesson will maintain their strategic alliance on several fronts—Smith & Wesson will continue to manufacture the PPK for Walther Arms, Inc. and CARL WALTHER will continue to manufacture the M&P22 handgun for S&W. Additionally, UMAREX will continue to license the Smith & Wesson brand for airgun products."

Yes S&W only distributes some Walthers. My 2015 PPS has been flawless, without a single malfunction in over 1000 rounds. I am very happy with Walther. Mine is 9mm by Walther arms out of fort smith. Upgraded to a BT guide rod with factory springs, and meprolight ns tat are dead on accurate. My 4G G19 would have feeding issues every third magazine, whether I used one mag or three different mags. Luck of the draw I guess.

I traded my SR9c for a PPS. Never thought that would happen. But the PPS has been 100%, and the grip fits me better. One note, the PPS, PPQ others are made at the Ulm, Germany plant. The CCP is made at the other Umarex plant, where they've had some QC issues along with the P22.

Great to hear. I'm glad I decided to go with the PPS. Next on my list is the PPS M2, or the PPQ. Surely it will conceal well with a good holster; and I prefer the paddle release.
