SKS trigger job

I watched a handful of videos on youtube regarding SKS trigger jobs. I followed the basic routine of the videos that I saw which is nothing more than pull the sear and grind the end down slightly to shorten reset travel and polish the top friction surface to smooth out the pull a bit. While I did notice a vast improvement in reset travel (taking care NOT to grind it too short and make the gun unsafe)I still have a gritty pull. Is there something else I should be looking at to get a real smooth pull once the trigger bar starts pushing the sear?

I've got 1000 grit sand paper and a grinding stone that I use to deburr and smooth out rough edges.

De-burring the sear might help but i wouldn't touch the trigger bar or disconnetor first because they are a pain in the ass to find and 2ns it could cause you some double fire issues,
Now you could replace the springs i believe wolf makes a spring package that could help to lighten the pull and take some slack out also try soaking the trigger in some mineral spirits or boiling water to see if you have any gunk in there or cosmoline

I deburred the sear when I had it out before. 1000 grit leaves even the cheapest cast metal (a la Norinco) with a very nice polished finish.

I'll give the mineral spirits a try. I did notice that there was some cosmolene on the sear when I pulled it out. I didn't even give a second thought to reaching down to the trigger bar and getting the rest of it out. Good point.

i bought a SKS off a guy a couple year back and when i dick a full clean of the trigger assembly i found a piece folded up duct tape wedged behind the sear it was used to raise the disconnector to meet the trigger bar needless to say once removed the trigger assembly would not function properly and i went on the hunt for replacement parts for which was to no avail so i bought a new trigger assembly which worked out great lol i ended up selling the rifle to Gunny last year
