After completing the conversion including bullet guide a month ago I found this quad rail for 40.00 and hand the forearm grip. I can now use any AK 47 magazine. I bought a couple Russian mags at the gun show today for 12.00 each. The only thing left that I want to do is thread the barrel.

Looks good. UTG quad rail? I have one on my Saiga that I like.

Russian AK mags for $12 seems like a steal. You did good on those.

As for threading the barrel, I'd do a bit more research. If I recall correctly, some Saigas come threaded already but have a protective cap welded on. There is an easy way to check to see if yours is like that, but I don't remember what it is.

Yep UTG forearm It fits really good. I'm thinking about redoing the stock to all wood what do you think?
Cut the protective shurad (sp?) off is the only way I know to check to see if the barrel is threaded or not. True I have heard that some saiga are threaded. It will be fun to do.

Nice rifle, the conversion is moving right along
Thanks and it shoots 100 times better feels like it take less than a pound to pull the trigger

My 74 has a trigger a lot like that. Nearly nonexistant reset and always unexpected trigger break.
I look forward to the progression, and youve made me take another look at my 74, especially for upgrades Ive been contemplating

The only thing left that I want to do is remove that butt ugly barrel Shroud and add a muzzle brake
Either the standard Russian

or a more modern look

I almost forgot I've been thinking about adding an extended magazine release

A new improved safety selecter

And a new charging handle

Of those three; the Krebs lever is worth the funds. I'd leave the other stuff off as you're just making the gun heavier and not getting that much back in return

Thanks, the addition of the new charging handle is an after thought, but wouldn't the extended magazine release be a good ideal?

Not really and in some ways it can be a hinderance to certain methods of reloading the gun. If you were putting it on a gun where the magazine falls free when the release is depressed it'd make more sense. But since the mags have to rock in and out your hand is going to be in place to depress the factory release

Thanks you probably just saved me a few bucks and aggravation down the road.
