Wondering what the process time is for the Form 4 in NC. What has your experience been ?

The "ATF Wait times" site will be your best and worst friend. I looked at it all the time when I was waiting on my suppressor to get approved.

I suggest you not worry about the time it takes. Just do it and try to forget about it until its approved.

It took about a year on a trust a few years ago.

I hear the new eforms are supposed to cut the wait time to weeks versus months. I honestly don’t see that happening, you’d think that the forms already submitted would be ahead of any submitted now. But that may be wishful thinking on my part. I’m about five months after filing my paperwork and still waiting.

The last one I did took 83 days after the check was cashed...year before last. With the new/improved e-file system they're claiming 90 days. I have 2 I purchsed in November, just before the change via SilencerShop and I'm still waiting to certify my forms so they can be submitted.

SilencerShop is the way to go and nobody knew that the r form system would come back online in December. But going forward, all forms will use the e form system and take an “estimated” 90 days

My last 5 purchases have been through SilencerShop. I did a video series on suppressor ownership(for new folks looking to pick one up) and I discuss going the SilencerShop route in pretty decent detail. It's a couple of years old now, but still relevant. I'll probably update it with the e-form info once the dust settles.

Both of the ones below from a local shop through Silencer Shop.
I ordered one on 1-6-2021 - Stamp Cashed 1-26-2021 and was approved 11-1-2021. (9 months from date stamp cashed)
The second was done 2-6-2021 - Stamp Cashed 3-11-2021 and is still Pending in process. (10 months still pending)
I am curious of the effect the new efile will have on all of the ones that were already pending in process as they have to transfer resources and training for the new the process.

Purchased my first can on 15Jan through a Silencer Shop 'powered' FFL and completed the registration through their kiosk that day. Information from the FFL was entered on 31Jan and Silencer Shop is now working on the paperwork. There are definitely issues with the Silencer Shop portal and FFLs are having some issues trying to get the information into their system to even start the Form 4 paperwork.

Just picked up the second one a few days ago. Almost a year form stamp cashed date.

Was finally able to get up to TSA certify my forms yesterday. Had a good conversation with the gentleman up there that handled the ATF transactions. Apparently what happened at the start of the eForms rollout was that the ATF updated their portal to use a CAPTCHA during the process and broke the silencershop software. They had to completely rebuild to get that to work the the updates the ATF made.

He also said that it would likely be 120 days or less. He's seeing a lot of items come back that were certified in Feb. Good news is a lot of the traffic that rushed in when eForms popped up have worked their way through and he anticipates the wait will get down to 60-90 days once all of that is out of the system.

Just in time for me to have saved up for a 5.56 can!

Also sitting at 11 months.
I called the ATF in April to get a status. They said 9 months is typical. I was at 8.5 months at the time. I was "pending". I.e. they cashed the check and hadn't yet gotten to my paperwork.

I've been trying to forget about it and let it be like surprise Christmas.

Yes, I’ve already got my next one in mind and it’s killing me not to order but savings my funds for vacation prior to ordering it.
The shortest wait time I’ve heard is 6 weeks using the efile system. Don’t know about that but I’m going to give it a shot on my next one.
