I still have several weeks before I get to NC, but I was wondering where the good FFL's (and shops) are in the Chapel Hill area. I saw the interactive map that someone created, but is it really THAAAT sparse in my new home town?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions ...

Pendergraft gun works...$25...used him twice, nice guy. Google him for the number
Roger that! I've used him five or six times for FFL purposes, and several times for gunsmithing. Here's a link to his website: http://www.pendergraftgunworks.com/

IB4C: Looks like I am ending up joining you "behind the lines" so to speak ... so I get that it is PGW for smithing and xfers ... but where do you go for retail?

I do most of my shopping on line, but when I feel the urge to see all dem guns on the wall, I drive down to Fuquay-Varina to http://www.fuquaygun.com/index.htm

If you just need an FFL transfer, Start To Finish is a vendor near Streets At Southpoint (to give you a landmark)

I called Mace one time (they are 3 minutes from my house). They told me it would cost $50 to do a transfer.

Pendergraft is right in Chapel Hill, charges $25, and it very easy to work with.

Those fees look reasonable too. Thanks for posting, that would be easy for me to get to as well.

Shawn at Start to Finish Consulting is my guy now. Very good to work with. He is also a Class 3 dealer if you want NFA goodies.

Prior to Start to Finish, I used Jim's Gun Shop in Garner for transfers.

To paw over merchandise, I also go to Fuquay Gun and Gold or Gander Mountain if I need a laugh.

I won't be discounting ANY of these guys ... but once they get past 20 miles like Gander Mountain and North Raleigh Guns, they at least need to answer the phone so that the trip isn't in vain.

Funny that there is nothing at all in Chatham county ... is that true or just poorly represented on NCGO???

Thanks for the help,

Don't completely discount Gander Mountain...sometimes I can find equal prices (not always). And they do price match if you can prove the price.
They won't always price match. I tried to get them to price match a SR1911 when Lawman's had them in stock a while ago, after Gander first opened in Morrisville. I had the quote in hand and Lawman's had them in stock. Nope, wouldn't do it. Said they would be losing money.

If they do price match, remember they will add in shipping and FFL fees to the price. I don't have a problem with that as that is part of the cost in getting the internet gun, but the FFL fee they use is $50. I normally pay $15-$20.
