So,...........It's a great day in paradise where every day is a holiday and, every meal's a feast :D

This morning, I slept in after 4am which is unusual for me.

I saw on the news Dianne Warwick was down to her last 1000 and owed 10million in taxes.
I remember when she did a charity appearance back in the day and charged the charity twice what they brought in for the appearance.

Do I feel sorry for her not being able to live like an elite any longer? NO

It was brought to my attention that she was Whitney Houstons aunt.
Now I really don't follow the Hollywood scene but what crossed my mind was this.

Well Whitney is not going to have to ever worry about this problem. She's dead. No problems.

I have been behind on my work. Car, the only one left running at the moment is leaking at the water pump now. The fuel door wouldn't open "switch" and I had to cut through the trunk liner to get to the actuater to open it.
I could go on and on whining about all the problems I have but I won't.

I have embraced them. They let me know I am still alive. If I have problems it's good. When I don't have problems any longer, I'll be dead.
What doesn't kill me makes me stronger. Marines been saying that long before the song.
Any day above ground is a good day

So, I say to you, these minor life issues are a blessing. When you go and deploy to a hostile foreign land, it's the small things that we take for granted that you miss.
Oh yea, my riding mower is broke now too. oh, joy, ughhh. another blessing :hilarious:

So, I thought well, I have been swapping sights and optics around. I need to zero the TR21R Trijicon and rezero the Matech flip up BUIS.

I went out when the sun rose. I shot and made adjustments to the iron sights until my quarter sized groups were in the center. It was fun. As long as I've been shooting, I was tickled.
Then I did the same with the old TR21r that I had got from FrontLine Defense some time ago.
That sight is sweet! I was thinking "On a Wednesday cold March morn, could a man have more fun than this?!!!:)

So, I decided I needed to run a couple mags through my Glock for practice. It's been awhile.

I moved way on up to the 15 yard line.
I shot some Mags through my RIA 1911, rapid action drills from not looking to look and draw.

I had a new Ruger SR1911 Magazine that performed flawlessly. The ACT-MAG that came with the gun kept hanging on chambering the last round. I hate issues but at least I know it's the Magazine.

Then I shot the Glock and it performed flawlessly as expected! The G23 is awesome and is usually my carry pistol.

I then shot a Smith and Wesson Stainless 65-4 that I picked up cheap at an out of the way little gun shop.
This was the first chance I've had to shoot this one. Ooooooo, It is so sweet and i was tickled with happiness. I didn't want to stop shooting but I went through a box of ammo so I knew it was time to wrap it up.
Most of my shots were on target and none were off the pizza box.

So, what are guys up to today?

The GLOCK now has TruGlo TFO night sights not shown, which I absolutely love!!!

Tax Slayer wanted to charge me for state, but Canti would've been free. They might change the rules next year, so I'll keep an eye on them.
I had to pay for state but was still cheaper than paying someone to do it.
Yeah, unless I'm so broke I need one of those refund anticipation loans, I don't pay anyone to do my taxes, especially now that I don't have tuition credits to claim (my student loan interest is too small to count). I either use a free online service like turbotax simply for the quick turnaround (I can fill out a 1040EZ faster than I can go through turbotax (20mins vs 40mins), but my mail is sloooow), or in the case of NC taxes I just get (print, now that the library doesn't have preprinted forms) a paper form, take an hour of my time per D-400, and for $.41 (or whatever the cost of a forever stamp was the last time I bought a book about a year ago or so) I can file. But I'm cheap, consider my time 'free' in cases like that, and this year I'm in no particular hurry to get our money back. Besides, I'm not going to take a loss on filing my taxes when I can do it myself for so cheap.

But I also have no kids, no house, no investments, etc. The most complicated thing this year is my employer changed names and organizational details mid-year, so I have to add 2 W-2's together. Whoo. :)

Now, last year, my stuff was complicated. One W-2 from my former employer, one from my current employer (annoying but not killer), my first year trying to deal with student loan interest because Canti was out of work and I wasn't sure I'd get anything back so I didn't want to take my stuff to H&R Block, and a form for my cashed-out 401k. I tried tackling a 1040, but got bogged down in piles of paperwork and poorly written instructions, and ended up giving turbotax a try for the first time. I even found a service that did free state filing for my income bracket, whose numbers jived with turbotax (getting a piddly sum back).

Well, I had to take my BMC over to a friend who I ride with (he's also a mechanic) cause it shifts like crap.
We talked a bit and as he started working on it, we're discussing what we've been up to lately - haven't seen each other in a while.
I mention that I'm kinda into guns now.

"oh really? Whatcha got?" So we proceed to talk guns, I show him mine, he shows me his and come to find out he enjoys shooting too and had 3 guns there with him at the shop. A .40, .380 and an LCP. Wow. That LCP is small and I like. :)

Anyways...worked on my bike some more, shifter cable broke, so I had to leave it with him. Talked more guns. Kinda nice to talk with someone who's interested in the same stuff. He was quite surprised that I like them and that I have what I have.

I need to get up with him and shoot some - maybe talk him into going to a zombie match or going over to his neighbors house and shoot. :)

Did you invite him to come here (NCGO)?
Maybe the Range 37 shoot?

I would invite him to come here (NCGO) but he's not big into computers and gets frustrated with them. He's just not a computer guy.
Hmmmm...I should invite him to come to the meet at Range37. :)

He's out of work right now (for about 3 wks now), something I didn't know cause we've not talked in too long and he's trying to get his auto-mechanic business up & running plus the bike mechanic side too. He's been so busy with the business that he hasn't ridden his bike in 5-6 months. That's something unbelievable to me - he was the one always out riding.

Anyways, I'll probably see him this weekend and ask him if he'd like to go...

As for today....I'm taking a road trip and meeting some NCGO'ers. :)

Well no shooting this morning.
I'm off to meet some NCGO peeps.

Both of my dogs love going bye bye. When it warms up enough here to swim in the rivers, they'll be coming along.
We've got a dog park near by....our two love to go and meet new friends. Only one's partial to water, though.

Today's agenda:

Mow grass and weedeat....
Lime and fertilize....
Final trash and leaf removal....
Pull weeds out of flowerbeds....

Assisted with copious amounts of Shiner Bock to start....

Hamburgers on the grill when the wifey gets home from work....(I'm off today)

Cigars, red wine, tiki torches, and and a blazing firepit on the deck tonight!

It's a Great Day to be alive!

Today would be the perfect day for a all out wheeling, shooting day :D except for the fact I don't have a wheeler except the wife's rodeo and she already said no to just a basic crawl.

I need to find another toyota 4x4 frame and start building. I've been fantizing about putting the saturn body on frame and wheeling it, put a exo cage over and call it good. I've looked for another 85-90 toyota 4x4 with a 22re, under 1500.

 If her Rodeo is anything like my Trooper was, it'll love mud and rocks! Tell her it'll make it happy, and a happy machine is a well-running machine. My Trooper loved 2 things, and would turn off 'check' lights or stop making pointless noises or whatever if I promised to indulge it in them: mud, and stomping ricers. But I'm a huge believer that machines are alive, and can be punished and rewarded into working properly. :D

She doesn't mind wheeling it, just replaced the transmission. I need to make some of the money back by trying to get rid of this 96 saturn sc1. I quit driving it after hearing a knocking noise. If I had a extra $500 sitting around I'd done tore it apart and rebuild the engine my self.

See: Right after she bought it, she wanted to follow me :D street tires suck, now she's got big meats :D

Ah, ok. Yeah, don't blow the transmission. I never went crawling in the Trooper (around here it's all sand and mud), but that does look fun. Again, I miss my Trooper. :( If I ever win the lottery, I'm buying another.
